The Great American Trailer Park Musical
Where: Mobile Theatre Guild
When: Sept. 14, 15, 16
You’ve already missed a week’s worth of trashy comedy, the last chance is near.
This satire claims to feature “spray cheese, pink flamingos, cheatin’ hearts and road kill” and likens the cast to a Jerry Springer episode.
Set in the ‘80s, North Florida trailer park resident Jeannie has lost her baby and gotten a bad perm on the same day. She goes agoraphobic while her hubby falls for a stripper. Things go off the deep end when a magic marker-sniffing Okie arrives.
The musical styles run a gamut of genres and the writing is irreverent enough to use the subject matter well.
Friday and Saturday shows are at 8 p.m., Sundays at 2 p.m.

Belles, Babes, Angels and Muses: The Art of Frederick Marchman and Rueben’s Mobile: Poems by Sue Brannan Walker and Illustrations by Kate Seawell
Where: Skinny Gallery, Mobile Arts Council (318 Dauphin St.)
When: Through Sept. 28
Fred Marchman has been a lively ingredient bubbling about the pot of Mobile’s artistic gumbo for decades now with energetic work that frequently carries socio-political themes and subtext. One sizable Marchman piece covered a wall at mythic Michael’s Midtown Café for years and never failed to elicit a variety of reaction from patrons.
Sue Walker, on the other hand, seems carved from the sweeter side of Azalea City life. The writer and chair of the University of South Alabama English Department was named Alabama poet laureate in 2003 and has combined her prose with Seawell’s artwork to form a contrapuntal companion to Marchman.
Gallery hours are Mon – Fri, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m
