Hats off to Pete and Mike
To the editor:
I would like to commend Pete Gleszer for the article he wrote concerning the Library Project.
My hat is off to Mike Ford for being the only council member to voice concern over this never-ending funding of the library. When is the council going to force a proper accounting for how much the city has actually given the library? When is the council going to take a stand to get the Library Board to pay back the bridge loan? Why is the Library Board repeatedly allowed to present “final bills” and have them paid?

How do you do it?
To the editor:
Great writing, Ashley! You really give an interesting perspective on our city council. I do feel for you having to sit through those meetings (Maybe classified as cheap entertainment?).
A new fan,
Mike Smith
P.S. Why doesn’t Starbucks carry your issues anymore? Piss them off?
Editor’s note: We don’t think we pissed them off, but we apparently got the boot because Starbucks has some kind of agreement with the New York Times that says only one other local publication can be distributed in their stores. Unwisely, Starbucks chose the Press-Register. Complain to them if you want your Lagniappe back with your lattes.
Chevron farewell
After 33 years, Paul Robbins has decided to retire and sell Robbins Chevron (corner of Ann and Government Streets). The last full day of operation will be Saturday, Dec. 22.
People I pissed off – sorry. Friends I made listening to music while I worked – priceless.
Goodbye Sgt. Shorts, Big Willie, grim reaper, Wade, Mr. Mitchell and many nice folks. I’ll put my teeth up on the window sill and stay here in Johnny’s Garden. Merry Christmas.
John Elder
P.S. If I don’t see you no more in this world, I’ll meet you in the next one – so don’t be late!
