Solomon’s memories not so sweet
To the editor:
The letter to the editor that claimed that you should mention Solomon’s more because it has “changed to fit the time, now every local seems to have their own Solomon’s memory.”
While I must confess that I, too, have a few Solomon’s memories, they’re usually scary ones that I would love to forget – like the time a guy swung a pool cue at me because he didn’t care for Lynyrd Skynyrd.
I didn’t play the song, but I just happened to be standing near the jukebox at the time. Or the time an enormous woman threatened me because I happened to glance at her video game screen as I was putting a quarter into my own video game. I don’t really know where I was going with this story, but that’s pretty much it.
I think you guys to a great job and it’s a really fun way for me to keep up with Mobile from afar.
That’s just my two cents.

Wal-Mart article appreciated
To the editor:
I read with interest an article on Wal-Mart I would grade A-plus. You said it all, and so well, so logical, so simply stated that one cries out for justice and the common good (apparently lacking in today’s partisan politics). I hope those folks on the Eastern Shore appreciate what you Lagniappers are trying to do. I must say that as an alternative you, in my judgment, match the mobile Press…whatever…well.
In another edition, Trudy Helmsing wrote about the second greatest rivalry (Yankees/Red Sox) Alabama/Auburn. Growing up in Chicago, I recall Michigan/Ohio State, Notre Dame/Army or Navy, Army/Navy, USA/UCLA Cubs/Cards. And after I grew older and learned more – those two schools in Florida.
Tell Trudy I will stand corrected, but I fear those of us from the rest of the country did not know how big time Alabama/Auburn was/is.

Kudos Ash
To Ashley:
Kudos for your article (Hidden Agenda 12/19/07), I am still laughing (it would be even funnier if it weren’t so real).
Thanks,
