Mad as hell and not taking it anymore
To the editor:
I decide to stop at (a local restaurant) on a busy Friday at lunch. As usual it is hot and sticky in this overrated place. I am with a great friend of mine and my two children. Promptly seated, order taken in a decent amount of time.
Food was good, except it did take a while. OK service. I had fully intended to pull out $5 bill, when I suddenly forgot – hmm, maybe two kids had something to do with that. Next thing I know, we are loaded up and just as I put the car in reverse I see a girl practically running to my car.
She was literally not going to let me leave. I gently rolled the window down and she asked me ,”Was there something wrong with the service today? I am the manager and I need to know what’s going on.” I told her that nothing was wrong, I had just simply forgotten the tip and handed her the money.
This is ABSURD, rude, you name it! Even at my poorest I do not cheat people out of their tip money. I know how hard these people work, however I was astounded at this gesture and do not care to support their business anymore. This is harassment and it is UNACCEPTABLE.
If that isn’t enough, I was at (another local restaurant) and had a similar incident. I go up to the bar to order a drink and sign my tab (by the way, the whole night if you wanted something you got up and went to the bar to get it yourself). This time I purposefully did not tip because I had NO service.
Shortly thereafter someone was at our table asking rudely ,”Was there a problem with the service?” I did not leave a tip this time. I was totally appalled at the way I was treated. A friend at our table went up and said something to a female employee about the incident and her reply was, “We haven’t had very many nice people in here tonight.” To that I say, “You reap what you sew.”
It’s NO wonder why things go out of business in Mobile – people should not be harassed for their decisions. It is an option to leave a tip. The audacity of people today.

Reward offered for plaque
To the editor:
The Scheuermann-Drinkard building at 203 Dauphin Street was vandalized this past weekend. This is the home of Busaba’s Thai Cuisine, Mobile’s authentic Thai dining experience.
The vandalism done to the building was the theft of our Historic Building Marker – a metallic shield that was displayed on the outside of our building designating it as a historic building.
To make things short and sweet, Busaba’s Thai Cuisine, Inc. is offering a $200 cash reward for information leading to the arrest of the person or persons who stole our Historic Building Marker and the return of the marker.
A police report has already been filed in regards to the theft – case # M08073561. Additionally, we will be contacting the National Registry of Historic Buildings and Places to find out if additional actions can be taken against the person or persons who stole the marker, considering that our building is listed in The National Registry of Historic Buildings and Places.
Yes, kiddies! If possible, I am going to make a federal issue out of this!
In the meantime, if you want $200, just turn in the a-hole(s) who stole the Historic Building Marker from my building and you’ll be happily rewarded. If you know who stole our building’s marker, contact Roy Pope at 786-1324.
