Shakespeare in LoDa

William Shakespeare’s Richard II

Where: Penthouse Salon & Spa (450 Dauphin St.)

When: Sept. 6 – 14

King Richard II is asked to intervene in a dispute between nobility over a recent assassination despite the king’s secretive instigation of the slaying. When the king turns on his accomplice, it becomes the first in a chain of misfortunes that prove his undoing.

The play’s Machiavellian themes are resonant for any time in which humans hold power over others.

Performed by the Mobile Shakespeare Company, this quasi-guerilla production is a healthy sign for Mobile’s ever-blooming arts scene.

Performances are Sept. 5, 6, 7, 11, 12, 13, 14 with the sole Thursday show being a “student night.” Evening shows begin at 8 p.m. while Sundays curtain rises at 2 p.m.

Entrance is $15
