Trailer park comedy
Sordid Lives by Del Shores
Where: Mobile Theatre Guild
(14 N. Lafayette St.)
When: Oct. 3, 4, 5, 10, 11, 12
Billed as a black comedy about white trash, this uproarious work was featured by MTG in 2004 and met with rave reviews.
The scenario follows a colorful, small town Texas family who must deal with the innately low-rent drama of cross-dressing, fixations on Tammy Wynette and shoddy trailers. Add in the lurid death of a family matriarch in a seedy motel and the makings of a ribald funeral ensue.
This work premiered in 1996, ultimately won 14 Drama Logue awards and has become a cult classic across the South.
Friday and Saturday performances are at 8 p.m. with Sunday matinees at 2 p.m. The Oct. 5 performance is through Bay Area Inclusion only.
Tickets are $17, $14 for seniors and $10 for students.
