LoDa Artwalk
Where: Cathedral Square
When: Oct. 10, 6 – 9 p.m.
This monthly endeavor takes on a serious sub-theme as awareness for domestic violence becomes a theme as the LoDa ArtWalk helps to raise awareness for domestic violence
The Clothesline Project, a national program sponsored by Verizon Wireless, will present a clothesline tree in the square with t-shirts made by local abuse victims designed to shed light on a problem involving 1 out of every 3 women. They will also collect broken or used cell phones to repair and sell to raise money for local shelters.
Paint Party Studios from Midtown will hold painting classes in the fountain of the Square. One class from 6 – 7:30 will be taught by studio owner Renee Wallace, and another from 7:30 – 9 will be taught by Devlin Wilson. The cost of the class is $40, with over 30% of the proceeds going directly to Penelope House. Any children, who come with a paying adult, may paint for free.
To sign up for either class, call 476-0067 or visit www.paintpartystudios.com.
