*A Time for War or Peace: * Art That Confronts the Realities of the Present

Where:

Space 301 Off Centre (6 S. Joachim St.)

When:

Through Sun., Aug. 5

Wed – Sat, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m./ Sun., noon – 5 p.m.

In a world that grows seemingly more dangerous by the day, this show seeks to bring the tumult of contemporary events to the viewers’ psyche.

The works center American involvement in the Middle East and include not only artists’ interpretations, but also video footage shot by forces stationed in Iraq. The films show a variety of Iraqi situations, from soldiers distributing candy to children to the results of a mass casualty incident involving improvised explosive devices.

The show was partially curated by the late David McCann beforehis illness. Work was completed by current curator Clayton Colvin.

Entrance for Centre for the Living Arts members is free, for nonmembers it is $5. For more info, call 208-5671 or go to www.space301.com
