A transition team has been put together to handle the cases of former assistant district attorney Steve Giardini, it was announced today by Mobile County District Attorney John Tyson Jr.

Giardini resigned from his office last Sunday amidst a home search conducted by the FBI.

Tyson said he felt it was necessary to let the public know the district attorney’s office is continuing work on cases left behind in the wake of Giardini’s resignation.

“I had decided to come and address the multidisciplinary team and explain where we are in the district attorney’s office so that we can continue the work of the Child Ad Center uninterrupted.,” Tyson said.

A transition team consisting of three volunteer lawyers has been tasked with catching up with all of the pending cases and cases that lie ahead, Tyson said.

The district attorney’s office and Child Advocacy Center will continue on with “business as usual,” but will also be checking on cases that have been exposed and any cases that have not been resolved as a result of Giardini’s actions.

“We’ve got it under control and we are finishing our thoughts on a permanent solution. But, on a temporary basis we were able to ramp up – go forward – with minimal disruptions,” Tyson said.

Tyson was unwilling to discuss any evidence in Giardini’s case stating that it was a federal issue, but on a personal level he is disappointed, shocked and concerned with the way things happened.
