Ashley,
I really did appreciate your column, although I read the Lagniappe every time it comes out, since my daughter-in-law is one of your buddies, Brooke Wilder. Although I live in the woods, the TV reception is poor, the water is sometimes stagnant, and the electricity works sometimes (when I pay the bill), I still can’t wait to read your column and the Boozesters.
Being a Florida grad, (class of ‘73) it makes me what you all would call an “ole timer,” before Jesus played a part in college football, and since living in Alabama, I really thought God was “Bear”. Your assessment of Tebow was on the money, not to say that I am disrespectful for being a Florida grad, but you are soooooo right…enough, enough, enough Tebow. Gifted as he might be, there are still 10 others players on the field, and the coaches that call the plays and run the team are on the sidelines and in the booth.
No man is an island, as was proven this past weekend with the loss to Alabama. What a poor performance by the Florida coaching staff, and probably (Jesus). The bear played football at Alabama, and according to my up bringing in the church,(whiskeypalians) Jesus never played football, even at Notre Dame. Sooooo, you keep right on with your assessment of Tebow, you are correct..
I love your columns, keep up the good work, and OH, by the way….the dude on the commercial…he sucks, he should have told his woman to go by the G-Spot and get some really hot stuff….red or black, get real.

Dear Mrs. Toland-Trice,
Just a few notes on your article on Tim Tebow. First of all, you are funny. I like the “like someone killed a kitten in front of me” line. We are huge Florida fans , but keep it in its place . It is football, nothing else. There are now several redneck SEC fans ready to cry “Blasphemy “
On the Tebow end, I, as a mother of three athletic girls and a believer that Jesus is the truth , the life and the way, am thrilled to see a positive role model in sports and a humble one. We really frown on the football chest-beating episodes around here. The press idolizes him, absolutely no doubt. I feel like telling ESPN to get a room sometimes.
And while the coverage can be an oversaturation much like Katrina (already seen that, time to respond, move forward or move on) I would still rather see positive coverage than negative.
He is criticized often but that doesn’t stop him from doing what he is called to do. Good for him. At 2O-something I was not thinking about another person than myself. I am grateful to people who do put others first . They make the world a better place to be.
Tebow will move on from college ball and another name will replace him. Let’s hope that name with great performances and outstanding stats also comes with the headline “tremendous character” and not “on trial for date rape, or a bar shooting”
Thanks for your time,
Alison Hill

P.S. The Superman label wasn’t his choosing — you can thank Lane Kiffin for that. (But that’s a whole ‘nother story!!)
Dear Ashley,
I have to tell you that your article on Tebow was the most hilarious but truthful perspective I’ve seen in quite a while! Finally, someone thinks the same way I do, or at least expresses their true thoughts but were to afraid to say in mixed company. I’m a Christian and an Alabama alum and I’ve had that funny feeling about Tebow for 3 years now. Just wait till he gets to the pros, boy what a setup the media has in store for him!!
Thanks for a great laugh!

To the editor:
Hi to the great folks at the Lagniappe in Mobile, AL. My buddies and I are having a hard time finding beer with the new HIGHER ALCOHOL CONTENT at our local grocery stores. Did you guys publish this information already? We usually keep up with the cool and all knowing, powerful Lagniappe, but we must have missed that issue (busy trying to consume too many beers with 5 percent alcohol content trying to get a buzz). Would somebody please help us out and e-mail us with a list?
Thanks for years of wonderful reading!
Jeff, Nay and the crew.

Editors Note:
Jeff, Nay and the crew,
Between bars, restaurants and specialty wine and beer stores in the area, there’s very few places you can’t get at least one high gravity beer. Lagniappe will play host to a beer column, “Beer Goggles” at the beginning of the 2010 calendar year, so be sure to check it out. You may find your answer there.
