Classical music is embedded into our cultural consciousness largely through its marriage with cinema. In early April, the Mobile Symphony Orchestra (MSO) visits hallmark movie themes that hold their own as discrete art.

John Williams, Bernard Herrmann, Jerry Goldsmith and Ennio Morricone are naturally included, along with pieces from “Back to the Future,” “Beetlejuice” and “Doctor Zhivago.” The music’s evocative quality, even without visuals, is revealed in the always-dependable nervous laughter rippling the audience during a specific section of “Psycho: Suite.”
