‘Project Hail Mary’ a heart-warming, if corny, escape

Unless you are made of stone, which actually, one of the main characters in this movie is, you will enjoy “Project Hail Mary.” While slightly corny and a bit too long, one would have to actively try to resist Ryan Gosling’s charm, so put your precious energy toward something else and get swept along in the celestial schmaltz of this space adventure.

From the book by Andy Weir, who also wrote the phenomenally popular book “The Martian,” which was also made into a highly enjoyable movie, “Project Hail Mary” starts with Gosling as Dr. Ryland Grace, waking up from a coma. He has no idea why or how he got where he is, which is in a spaceship light-years from Earth, with two deceased astronauts on board.
