Brickyard Dauphin Street continues to pump out the jams in downtown Mobile. This weekend, New Orleans’ Deltaphonic will be taking the stage. The creation of this band’s panoramic Big Easy sound is truly a team effort in Deltaphonic. On vocals, bass and guitar, Andrew T. Weekes serves as the founder of this project as well as its core songwriter. However, Weekes’ selection of bandmates is instrumental in taking the band’s songs into new musical realms. Deltaphonic features two-time Grammy-nominated drummer/vocalist Trenton O’Neal on drums, guitarist Paul Provotsky and guitarist Logan Sellers.
Tripping across Deltaphonic’s catalog shows a band that delved into different styles of music before locking into a sound that pleases both the band and their audiences. Their 2015 debut, “Texas, Texas,” as well as their 2017 sophomore album, “See Red,” feature a band in a different headspace than the one that will be performing at Brickyard. Both of these albums feature an unpredictable whirlwind of avant-garde, Southern-fried rock styles from every corner, with funk and jam grooves making their presence known in the arrangements.
