Penis protestor not guilty

A Fairhope woman wants the city to pay her $2 million for wrongfully arresting and charging her with crimes related to her wearing an inflatable penis costume at a No Kings protest off Greeno Road in October 2025.

David Gespass, who represents Renea Gamble, 62, told Lagniappe he filed a statement of claim with the city of Fairhope on April 17 stating Gamble was wrongfully arrested, imprisoned and was also assaulted during an incident when Fairhope police officers cuffed and detained her during the October protest.

A jury in federal court comes from the citizens of the counties of Choctaw, Clarke, Washington, Conecuh, Escambia, Baldwin and Mobile. Two dollars from such a jury is not likely to happen, much less two million.

Based upon the law, she wins. She is entitled to her tacky and distasteful display, short of a local law prohibiting it. That doesn’t mean she is respected or ANY type of local hero. I seriously doubt that she is TWO million dollars damaged. Give her a dollar, pass a local decency law, and let’s close this embarrassing chapter.
