Following Wednesday morning’s announcement Mayor Sandy Stimpson would endorse former Mobile County District Judge Spiro Cheriogotis, multiple candidates reacted to the decision, with most claiming they were not surprised by the development.
In a statement, Connie Hudson Campaign Manager Wiley Blankenship said he wasn’t surprised by the announcement while also taking a shot at the outgoing mayor, claiming he picked a candidate who could “be controlled.”
Laughable responses! Each candidate knows that Stimpson would easily be re-elected if he chose to run. His previous landslide victories show that the overwhelming majority of Mobilians would gladly take another four years of more of the same. By contrast, Rep. Drummond had by far the smartest response, not taking the bait to bash Stimpson but instead focusing on her campaign.
