Weeks after his Halloween display went viral for depicting a phantasmic ICE raid, Mobile County Sheriff Paul Burch traded in sombrero-wearing skeletons for headstones depicting the death of “humor.”
A recent photo provided to Lagniappe shows Burch’s front yard no longer features the handful of skeletons dressed as Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents chasing others wearing stereotypical Mexican attire that drew international attention earlier in October.

This is so confusing! I thought a “Karen” was that kind of mean white woman who tells Black people they don’t belong in the local swimming pool, etc. I would fully expect a “Karen” to have a halloween display like Mrs. Burch’s. Also, this is what always happens when somebody says or does something that isn’t funny, and then somebody else says, “Hey, that’s not funny, it’s hurtful,” the first person always says, “You have no sense of humor.” A better response would be to reflect (perhaps in prayer) on why it is that a lot of people found the decorations hurtful. Probably had something to do with taking a situation that is causing a lot of misery and, from a position of complete safety and privilege, making a joke about it.

Pretty awesome Mrs. Burch! I LOVE your sense of humor and IMHO, you still got the upper hand. Kudos to you for your creativity! :)
Great response Mrs. Burch, I liked the first one more, but as we all saw there are too many “Karens” in our country 🇺🇸
