Order of Myths rider detained

A rider on the Order of Myths parade is detained by law enforcement on Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2026 (STAFF)

In a rarely seen incident, Mobile police halted a Mardi Gras parade Tuesday night and took a member of a mystic society away in handcuffs.

Law enforcement officers stopped the Order of Myths (OOM) float near the intersection of Washington Avenue and Conti Street around 7 p.m., during the final Fat Tuesday procession, Feb. 17. There, they ordered one rider to step off. A red and gold costumed man was then placed in hand restraints while surrounded by roughly a dozen officers. Photos of the incident show this included motorcycle units from the Mobile Police Department (MPD) and an Alabama State Trooper.

He was apprehended for throwing items too hard at people's heads, but didn't throw hard enough or too frequent to be arrested? That makes no sense.
