An accident claimed the life of the wife of a local business owner on Monday afternoon.
The Mobile Police Department confirmed an accident occurred at 3:47 p.m. on Monday on Old Shell Road that claimed the life of Robin Hamlin. Hamlin is the wife of Powell Hamlin, who owns the Dew Drop Inn restaurant in Mobile.
A statement from the Mobile Police Department states that Hamlin was attempting to cross Old Shell Road when she was hit by the vehicle traveling west.Â
The statement continues to say Hamlin was conscious and alert prior to being transported to the hospital. Officials learned at 6:30 p.m. that Hamlin had passed away due to her injuries.
Officials said the driver remained at the scene and did not show any signs of impairment.Â
Law enforcement officials told Lagniappe the accident is still under investigation.
