Mary G. Montgomery (MGM) officials have had a change of heart and have decided to appeal the restrictive probation levied against the football program to the Alabama High School Athletic Association’s (AHSAA) Central Board of Control.

Recently, at a hearing requested by former MGM head coach Zack Golson concerning the Mobile County Public School System’s (MCPSS) decision to transfer him from MGM to Orchard Elementary to teach this year — he is serving a one year suspension from coaching at any AHSAA-member school — school principal David Diaz said the school would not appeal its sanctions to the AHSAA and instead would “move forward” with the program.
