Mobile Christian's Hadley Kelly

Trenity Jenkins-Gaines made two free throws with 17 seconds to play, Catherine Bell came up with a late steal and a 3-point try by Thomasville missed the mark at the buzzer as Mobile Christian topped Thomasville 40-38 in the Class 3A girls’ South Regional championship game Tuesday morning at Montgomery’s Garrett Coliseum.

The Leopards produced a 9-0 run over the game’s final 1:47 to overcome a seven-point deficit and claim the win that sends them to next week’s Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) state semifinal game at Legacy Arena of the Birmingham-Jefferson Civic Center. Mobile Christian will play the winner of the Glencoe-Sylvania game to be played later today in next week’s state semifinal.
